Designing IT Automation Features to Bring Customers In
Background
To support Falcon's vision of becoming a one-platform solution, we set out to replace third-party IT automation tools with native features that offer better convenience and lower cost. I led the design of four core capabilities, readable execution results, parameterized inputs, safe-guardrails, and task scheduling, aimed at improving trust, clarity, and usability for IT admins managing large-scale workflows. These features directly contributed to a major customer win by reducing the need for external tools and strengthening the case for full-platform adoption.
Objective
Improve readability of task results through multi-column formatting
Enable reusable scripts with input parameter support and validation
Simplify scheduling with more intuitive, unified time settings
Introduce guardrails to prevent performance and privacy issues
Reduce friction when transitioning from legacy patterns to safer defaults
Balance flexibility with constraints to support both power and safety
